Adding a welcome screen

A welcome screen is a great way to engage your audience and share essential information before starting the test, such as a warm introduction, brief overview, instructions, and a clear call to action.

FlexiQuiz quiz maker enables you to add videos, images, audio or text in any language to deliver a custom message to your audience.


How to add a welcome screen

  1. To start, create a new quiz or edit an existing one.
  2. From the Create screen, click Add page.
  3. Select Welcome page from the drop-down menu.
  4. Note! We automatically add the welcome screen to the start of your quiz.

  5. Now add the custom content to your welcome screen. Depending on your FlexiQuiz plan type, you can add text, images, GIFs, audio, and hyperlinks.
  6. Once you are happy with your content, click Save.
  7. To see how your welcome page looks as a test-taker, click Preview on the top right.

You can edit or delete the welcome screen at any time.

If you have an Essentials plan or above, you can customize the design of the welcome screen.

Adding logos

You can add your company logo to the welcome screen and the whole quiz. 

To add a logo:

  1. Go to the Configure tab and select General from the left-hand menu.
  2. Now tick the Logo box.
  3. Then click Browse to locate and upload your logo or image.
  4. You can also resize the logo if required.

Change the Start Quiz button text

The welcome screen includes a Start Quiz button, which is a clear call to action for your audience.

You can customize the text and color on the button.

To customize the button:

  1. From the Configure tab, select Theme from the left-hand menu.
  2. Then click the Messages tab.
  3. Scroll down the page to the Navigation buttons.
  4. Then, edit the existing text and change the button's color in the drop-down menu.

Background images

You have the option to add an image that could also be your logo to the background of the welcome screen. The image on the welcome screen can be different images on other pages in your quiz.

Background colors

Instead of adding a background image, you can update the background colors. The background colors will apply to all pages of your quiz or training materials.

To change the background colors:

  1. From the Configure screen, select Theme on the left-hand menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Background Colors section and choose what element you want to change.

Frequently asked questions

When does the timer start if I add a welcome page and a time limit to the quiz?

The timer starts when the learner clicks the Start Quiz button.

The FlexiQuiz system will start timing how long the learner takes to submit the quiz. Learn more about tracking how long someone takes on a quiz.

If you have set a time limit, the timer will start counting down. Learn more about setting time limits.


What information should I include on the welcome screen? 

Depending on how you set up the quiz, it is helpful to include the following information:

Rules and guidelines: No cheating, no switching tabs.

Quiz title and description: A brief overview of the quiz.

Instructions: For example, set time limits for the whole quiz or per page. Or details on how the scoring works.

How the quiz works: Types of questions, details about bookmarks if available, details if students can go back to previous questions.


Where does welcome screen fit on a quiz?

The welcome screen is the last page that learners see before they start the quiz or view training materials.

The welcome screen goes after a registration page, access code entry and selling page.
